Victim Support is the independent charity which helps people cope with the effects of crime. They provide free and confidential support and information to help you deal with your experience and also aim to promote and advance the rights of victims and witnesses in all aspects of criminal justice and social policy. Victim Support offers a comprehensive service and is committed to welcoming and involving minority and disadvantaged groups throughout the organisation.

The Home Office is the Government department responsible for internal affairs in England and Wales. The purpose of  the Home Office is to work with individuals and communities to build a safe, just and tolerant society enhancing opportunities for all and in which rights and responsibilities go hand in hand, and the protection and security of the public are maintained and enhanced.

Citizens Advice Bureau 'Adviceguide' gives basic advice and information on your rights. It gives you a broad outline of where you stand and what you can do, but if you cannot find what you are looking for there, you should contact a Citizens Advice Bureau directly. 'Adviceguide' has a link to www.nacab.org.uk where there is a directory of CABx which people can use to find their nearest bureau.
