Nazir Afzal OBE is the National Crown Prosecution Service Director with responsibility for community liaison and cases with disproportionate impact. He recognised that there was a gap between practitioner and victim perception and has worked with NSS and other charities to begin to address the gap. The start, in his view, is heightened awareness about both the extent and effect of stalking on victims, a recognition of vulnerabilities and robust investigation and prosecution. He leads for the Service on many high profile areas of crime and is endeavouring to give the effects of stalking the recognition it deserves thereby ensuring multi-agency and cross-Government action to reduce it.
Dr David James is a consultant forensic psychiatrist in the UK who works in the field of public figure stalking. His expertise lies in the assessment and management of people who threaten or harass, using a joint medical and policing approach. He has published extensively in the specialist literature and lectures widely at home and abroad
Dr David Holmes - Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Director of the Forensic Research Group at the Manchester Metropolitan University. He established the Forensic Research Group at MMU under which umbrella he has produced many successful forensic conferences and has published in this area, particularly stalking.
Jennifer Perry was formerly the managing director of E-Victims.Org, the UK’s most comprehensive website for victims of e-crime. A thought leader on Internet crime issues, Jennifer is able to identify potential emerging e-crime trends based on her experience over the years. Through her collaborative work, Jennifer has access to the latest thinking on e-crime and anti-social issues facing Internet users. Jennifer uses this information to inform consumers by translating often jargon heavy legislative tech speak into clear, easy to use information that helps them to resolve their problems and avoid becoming an online victim.
Dr Rajesh Nadkarni – Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist
Dr Karl Roberts - Chartered Forensic Psychologist of the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a United Kingdom Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Approved Behavioural Investigative Advisor (BIA). He has worked closely with police since 1992 providing investigative behavioural advice in the form of risk assessments, interview strategies and offender profiles. Since 1992 he has advised on in excess of four hundred major Police inquires throughout the United Kingdom, Europe and the USA.
Dr Lorraine Sheridan - Chartered Forensic Psychologist and an international expert on stalking and harassment. She is a police accredited offender profiler and compiles psychological reports related to offenders, highlighting the risks posed by known or unknown suspects. She regularly gives case management advice to the police, security personnel, celebrities and others on stalking, harassment, violence, risk assessment, malicious communications and similar topics.
Garry Shewan is Assistant Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police. He is the Association of Chief Police Officers ACPO lead on Stalking and Harassment.
Sylvia Walby: Sylvia Walby is UNESCO Chair in Gender Research and Professor of Sociology at Lancaster University. She was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to equal opportunities and diversity. Her work includes analyses of both gender and violence. A key example is Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking: Findings from the British Crime Survey Home Office Research Study 276, 2004, with Jonathan Allen, based on a consultancy to the Home Office British Crime Survey.
