Help for Cyber-stalking Victims Secured

Following yesterday’s announcement of the closure of E-victims.org – the charity that helps victims of e-crime, Network for Surviving Stalking has stepped into the breach to enable its vital work to continue.

NSS has offered to take over the on-line harassment aspect of their work. Victims of on-line harassment and cyber-stalking will shortly be able to access information through www.nss.org.uk

E-victims director Jennifer Perry says, “On-line harassment is one of my biggest areas of concern, as it’s such a growing problem. I’m pleased to be working with NSS to make sure this important work continues.”

NSS Chief Executive Alexis Bowater says, “E-victims.org provides a vital service for people who are being stalked or harassed on-line.  They’ve produced the first ever guide about how domestic violence and stalking victims can stay safe on-line.  Jennifer has a wealth of experience about on-line crime and we hope she’ll be joining Network for Surviving Stalking as our resident on-line expert very shortly.”

 Editor’s Notes:

1. The E-Victims Organisation CIC is a Community Interest Company (CIC) it’s independent and works with industry, consumers, supports charities, policing, and government agencies to provide advice to e-victims. These are some of the issues that people have contacted E-Victims.Org about in the past week:

  • A woman who had her mobile number used in a sex advert.
  • A victim of domestic violence whose partner was stalking her online.
  • A teenage boy who has had two imposter profiles created on Facebook designed to humiliate him.

 2. Network for Surviving Stalking is one of the charities that helped set up the National Stalking Helpline.  We work to raise awareness about stalking and harassment. Our web-site is www.nss.org.uk
