NSS teams up with Suzy Lamplugh Trust

Help for Stalking Victims

June 2009 saw the launch of a new working partnership between the Network for Surviving Stalking and  The Suzy Lamplugh Trust.    ”Working with our partners Suzy Lamplugh Trust to provide vital front-line support services for stalking victims means NSS can now focus on the crucial task of raising awareness about these crimes. ” said NSS media co-ordinator Jane Harvey.

And since the new partnership was formed, calls and enquiries from people about stalking have been flooding in. In June and the first week of July the SLT team dealt with 16 victim’s enquiries about stalking and harassment.  8 of the enquiries came via NSS, 5 via the media, 2 via the internet and the remainder through contact already established with SLT.   10 people were advised to go to the police; 4 were sent information about the law and 2 have yet to answer messages.

This important front-line service is currently being provided by staff at SLT as a temporary measure.   NSS and SLT are jointly raising funds to employ a permanent case-worker to deal with enquiries about stalking and harassment.  If you would like to contribute to the Caseworker fund, please email fundraising@suzylamplugh.org

From now on anyone wanting support and advice about stalking or harassment can contact SLT on 0207 0910014 and ask for EXTENSION ONE.
